Leadership training

We help young girls and women by teaching them leadership and communication skills. We also encourage them to take on leadership roles within their communities.

School interventions

We work closely with schools in our geographical areas of impact, teaching teenagers about sexual and reproductive health rights, menstrual health and hygiene, and more.

Areas of impact

We work primarily in four districts in Jharkhand: Ranchi, Gumla, Hazaribagh and Ramgarh. Our work has impacted more than 1200 women and 800+ adolescents so far.

Who We Are

ASMITA is a youth-led organisation registered under the Indian Trust Act 1882. It is a collective of feminist leaders who have decided to work together for the advancement towards the empowerment of women and adolescents. ASMITA's work is guided by a commitment to upholding the human rights of women and adolescents, and creating a world where they are seen as equal stakeholders and agents of change.

The team has promoted the collective’s approach towards social transformation by cultivating the leadership capabilities among women and adolescents for their empowerment.

Ensuring Peace and Security for Women & Children

We champion a world where women and children are safe. We advocate for their protection from violence, promote their participation in peace-building initiatives, and ensure access to education and essential services in conflict zones.

Preservation of Indigenous Language and Culture

We safeguard the irreplaceable languages and traditions of indigenous communities. This vital work ensures their rich history, knowledge, and connection to the land are preserved and passed down for future generations.

Promoting Adolescent Health and Social Rights

We empower adolescents by ensuring access to quality healthcare, including sexual and reproductive health services. We also advocate for their social rights, promoting safe spaces and opportunities for meaningful participation in society.

Empowering Youth Towards Climate Justice

We equip young people with the skills and resources to become climate leaders. This program fosters advocacy for climate action, supports the development of sustainable solutions, and works towards a healthy planet for their future.

Advocating for LGBTQ+ Rights and Initiatives

We strive for a world where LGBTQ+ individuals experience full equality and inclusion. We advocate for anti-discrimination legislation, promote safe spaces, and support initiatives that celebrate LGBTQ+ experiences.
